Polar Bears in Chalk and Charcoal

Learn to draw the Polar bears using chalk and charcoal on black paper. Create two striking black and white drawings with guidance from Tutor Bethany Y Milam.  In this workshop you will use tonal drawing techniques, blending, textured scumbling and feathering.  You will complete a quick warm-up each week, followed by a side on portrait of an adult polar bear and then a polar bear cub. Follow the step-by-step demonstrations, learn to draw basic shapes and anatomy, use white on black, see and match tones and add texture.

Approximately 4 hours of video content in two parts plus PDF with refence photos.

Suitable for beginners and improvers with some previous drawing experience.

You will need: 

2 sheets Black paper A4 (You can use ink to paint a piece black if needed)

Drawing/cartridge paper or a sketchbook

White chalk or white soft pastel

Willow charcoal

Putty rubber / Eraser

Blending stumps

Charcoal pencils (optional)

White tinted charcoal pencil / pastel pencil (optional)

Fixative

Scrap paper

An Apron and something to cover your table.
